The Icom IC-SAT100 is the first Icom handheld radio (Iridium PTT) to use a satellite communication network.
Unlike satellite phones, the IC-SAT100 provides radio services to multiple users at the push of the transmit button (PTT). It can be used as a communication tool in remote isolated areas where there are no mobile phones or fixed network infrastructure, such as mountainous areas, remote islands and / or desert. Even if the terrestrial network infrastructure is rendered unusable by human or natural disasters, satellite communication provides a stable security backup independent of other networks.

Iridium PTT (Push-To-Talk) is a two-way radio system using the Iridium® satellite network. Unlike satellite phones, Iridium PTT IC-SAT100 users can immediately start talking to all the radios in the same talkgroup by simply pressing the transmit (PTT) button.
Using 66 Iridium Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, the Iridium PTT IC-SAT100 provides low latency communication and wider and more reliable network coverage compared to geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO) satellites.
The orange key on the top panel can be used for emergency situations. You can transmit an emergency call to pre-programmed users by holding down the key.
The Iridium PTT IC-SAT100 provides IP67 waterproofing (1m water depth for 30 minutes) and dustproof protection, ideal for use in harsh environments. The radio meets MIL-STD 810G specifications. The operating temperature range is -30ºC to + 60 ° C (-22ºF to 140 ° F)
